Hazardous Materials

Haz Mat Operations

The purpose of this class is to provide participants who are likely first responders, with an improved capability to respond to Haz Mat events in a safe and competent manner. The 16-hour class is scheduled for 9/5/08, 9/6/08 and 9/12/08. Call Dan Layne for more information at 521-6520.
 

Haz Mat Decon

The goal of this 8-hour class is to train those who have been previously trained to the OSHA Hazwoper First Responder Operations (FRO) level to conduct Responder Decontamination as part of an organized response to a terrorist incident involving weapons of mass destruction or other hazardous materials. Class ;meets 9/13/08 from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Call Dan Layne for more information at 521-6520.

 

Emergency Medical Technician/EMT

Emergency Medical Technician/EMT

This intensive course is designed to assist the student in becoming an Emergency Medical Technician by developing skill in recognition of symptoms of illness and injuries and proper procedures in emergency care. Combining lecture and supervised experience, the course includes patient evaluation and treatment, clinical experience and ambulance operations in the pre-hospital emergency setting. Upon successful completion of the course and passing the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination, students may make application through their local Emergency Medical Services Agency for certification. (In the north state the agency is NorCal EMS, Inc.) This is a 144-hour course. Some off-schedule and week-end hours required. Prerequisite: Current BLS/CPR card or Professional Rescue card (page 16). EMT Refresher

The course meets State of California requirements for recertification. The EMT Refresher Course is designed for the working professional to earn continuing education credits (24 credits) and Skills Verification. Prerequisite: Current BLS/CPR or Professional Rescue card (see page 16), and a current EMT certification.

Paramedic

The course is a Nationally Accredited Paramedic Training Program meeting the Department of Transportation National Paramedic Curriculum requirements that prepares students for licensure as a Paramedic in the State of California. The program is designed for the working adult wishing to upgrade their skills or make a career change. Classroom is Friday evening and all day Saturday with an open classroom on Friday. Anatomy and Physiology is a co-requisite and the clinical internship is completed concurrent with the class lecture segment. Enrollment requirements: EMT for 12 months, HS diploma or GED.
