Open Computer Lab

Need some help with your computer questions?
Open Lab is free and available on a walk-in basis. Basic computer knowledge is required. Come in and use an available, internet-connected computer. Printing limit/5 pages per day. Students must sign the Computer Use Agreement each semester. Students must register at the front desk and wear an ID badge each time the open lab is used. Hours subject to change and computers subject to availability.
Note: All internet activity is monitored by OAE server system.

Oroville Adult Education Career and Technical Center offers a series of half-day classes for Intro to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Managing Master Documents, Working with Office 2007 and Excel to Access Conversion. Computer Operator/Introduction
There are no pre-requisites for this popular, beginning course that teaches basic computer operation. Learn about icons, windows, menus, copying files, storing files and much more in this powerful, information-packed class, utilizing state-of-the-art computers. Certificate of completion available for those who successfully complete the course. *Seniors 65+ may take these daytime classes for material fee only.

Computer Applications for the Clueless

Computer Applications for the Clueless is a class that is ideal for the individual who has little or no formal computer instruction. Course covers three areas: COMPUTING FUNDAMENTALS (Hardware, software, operating systems) KEY APPLICATIONS (Word processing, spreadsheets) INTERNET (Network fundamentals, email). This course will also prepare the student for Internet and Computer Core Certification (IC³). IC³ is a valid and relevant tool to measure proficiency in the latest technologies for school, work and life.

Adobe PhotoShop

Adobe Photoshop is an image-editing program that lets you create and modify digital images. Although popular with graphics professionals, Photoshop is practical for anyone who wants to repair old or damaged photographs, retouch photos, adjust color, combine images or add text. This class is for the intermediate to advanced computer student.

Using Adobe InDesign
Adobe InDesign is a comprehensive software program that allows you to create output-ready layouts for anything from a simple coupon to an 8-page newsletter to a 120-page full-color magazine. It will work easily Photoshop®, Illustrator®, Acrobat, InCopy®, and Dreamweaver® software without needing to make major changes to the files you want to import. This is the tool that takes your idea from conception to publication. This class is for the intermediate to advanced computer student. *Optional book purchase $60.

Multimedia Designer/Level 1 and 2
Learn what you need to get a job in the exciting world of media design. In this 2-semester program, students will learn how to design, build, and maintain effective communications by using different forms of digital media. Students will master the use of Adobe Dreamweaver®, Flash® and Photoshop®. Once completed, students are eligible to take the Adobe Certified Associate Certification exam for entry-level employment. Both levels required for completion and OAE certification. Levels may not be taken concurrently. Also required: C&CR
