Dear Community Member,
Education Pays. Everyone knows the truth of these words and I start my message to you with this powerful reminder….Education Pays. Oroville Adult Education continues to offer the finest literacy, academic, and career and technical programs in the north state. Our expert student-friendly staff and state-of-the-art instructional resources offer a program that is at the pinnacle of education. Just as we are here for you if you need a high school diploma, we are the place to enroll if you need to train for a new career. As you know, it has been my policy, and the policy of this school for the last 85 years, to offer classes for little or no cost. However, given the recent budget cuts and sweeps at state and local levels, adult education has been hit harder and deeper than any other educational offering in California. Many of these budget reductions run as deep as 40% or more. Therefore, you will see fee increases in this brochure. Philosophically, I believe it is better to offer a quality academic or career and technical program with fees than to completely cut a program offering to our community. Please understand that each program must now be either partially or entirely supported by student fees or they would be eliminated. Likewise, be assured we have kept fees in each of our classes as low as possible. By the way, I recently spent some quality time reviewing comparable course offerings of both public and private schools throughout the state. Based on this research, I can attest that OAE-CTC continues to maintain a wide array of courses and programs at competitive pricing. And remember...Education Pays.
See you in class!
